jazminq – yes, Langston Hughes! My sister lent me a book of his poetry once and I enjoyed it. He would be good to re-read. I’m not familiar with Sonia Sanchez; I’ll have to look up her work.

Oops, yes, I forgot about the major online retailer. Heh. I just figured since I picked it up off of the super-bargain table in the back of the campus bookstore in college that it was probably pretty rare. Nevermind!

Maya Angelou is definitely one of my faves, Some other good ones are Langston Hughes and Sonia Sanchez.

I looked into Sarah Lindsay’s _Primate Behavior_ (at a major online retailer, which allowed me to “look inside” the book).

Great reviews on that one, and VERY interesting subjects – from space migration to cave paintings … wow!

I’ve always liked Yeats, although I like his shorter stuff much better than some of his longer epics.

An Irish Airman Foresees His Death

I know that I shall meet my fate
Somewhere among the clouds above;
Those that I fight I do not hate,

My country is Kiltartan Cross,
My countrymen Kiltartan’s poor,
No likely end could bring them loss

I don’t read much contemporary poetry, but I’ve got a book called Primate Behavior by Sarah Lindsay that I quite like as well, although it’s probably somewhat hard to find.
