Christopher Reich has found his niche with mystery thrillers including Numbered Account, The Patriot’s Club, The Devil’s Banker and The First Billion. His latest novel, Rules of Deception, will be released next week, on July 15. I haven’t yet reviewed the book, but wanted to share a tidbit from today’s New York Times review by Janet Maslin. (login may be required for full article)
Maslin points us to Reich’s video clip on Amazon, in which he lists several key elements to a “great page-turner”
- a likeable hero who has to face insurmountable odds and overcome them
- betrayal, the question of who you can trust
- exotic locales, inernational setting to realy keep you on the edge of your seat
Maslin’s review is overwhelmingly positive, perhaps Reich adds other “secret ingredients” to his formula! The review includes a lot of plot summary, beware of spoilers!
Online book trailers and author promotional clips are increasingly prevelant in marketing books. I tend to like them, what do you think?

I stumbled over from Lori’s Reading Corner, and I just have to say … I love the title of your blog. That’s one of my favorite author quotes ever.
Oh, and the blog looks great too.
Katrina – thanks for visiting! I popped over to your blog to read some of your writings (and view those gorgeous hats!)
