Monica suggested this one:
Got this idea from Literary Feline during her recent contest:
“Name a favorite literary couple and tell me why they are a favorite. If you cannot choose just one, that is okay too. Name as many as you like–sometimes narrowing down a list can be extremely difficult and painful. Or maybe that’s just me.”
I saw this BTT question on (you guessed it!) Thursday, but couldn’t come up with an example from literature. Then a few days passed, I read a lot of great posts about other people’s favorite literary couples and decided to go with my first intinct, listing two of my favorites from television. I figure there was some reading involved, with scripts, so it’s quite a stretch, but so is posting my Booking thru Thursday on Sunday!
Here goes:
Paul and Jamie Buchman (Paul Reiser and Helen Hunt) from Mad about You. They remind me of all the fun and goofy things my husband and I did when we were dating. I love all the quirky New York references (who remembers how Jamie was always complaining about the slope in their apartment floor?)
Tie between George and Mary Bailey (Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed from the movie It’s a Wonderful Life)
and Cliff and Claire Huxtable (Bill Cosby and Phylicia Rashad) from The Cosby Show. The kind of parent I strive to be – patient, kind, ethical, and all over good example for my kids and the community, and lots of fun, too!
I’ll stick to books on next week’s question!

Dawn, that is so funny because when I saw this question I thought…I don’t really have many favorite literary couples but I have a lot of favorite tv couples!
I love It’s a Wonderful Life…almost that time of year to watch it again!
I had definitely thought of Mary and George but didn’t list them because it was a movie but I totally agree with you. That is one of my all time favorite movies.
Oh, I love Paul and Jamie. I LOVED that show. Somehow watching it always made me feel so *comforted*.
Oh, I loved Mad About You.
I remember the sloping floor thing. So many good times with this show.
Amy – “It’s a Wonderful Life” is one of our favorite movies. We watch it (several times) each season, and quote from it liberally. “Every time a bell rings, and angel gets his wings” and “No man is a failure who has friends” are among my favorites (and sometimes, on long days, I’ll quote George Bailey – “why do we have to have all these kids, anyway?!”
Dar – I’m glad no one seems to mind me bending the rules to include TV and movies this week!
Shana – looking at the old clips on YouTube I realize how long I’ve been married (Helen Hunt had “big hair” in the first season!)
Icedtea – Now that I’m thinking of the old episodes, I’ll have to go look at the DVR and see if the reruns are broadcast.
