Dear Santa,
Our friend Jill over at Fizzy Thoughts is at it again! Yes, she’s being generous, super-nice, and spreading holiday cheer through random acts of kindness! You’re not surprised, are you? Softdrink is like that!
She encouraged us all to write nice chatty letters to you, letting you know what book we’d like for Christmas. Then she is going to buy a book for one lucky winner; how do you like that?! I guess she figures that you’ve got a lot to do, with it being less than a week from Christmas … and that maybe the other letter I wrote you might be lost in the mail, since we’re in the middle of a serious Nor’easter! I wonder if she’ll dress in an elf suit while she’s arranging all this?!
So, what would I like to find in my stocking on Christmas morning (or a post-Christmas surprise)? I haven’t been naughty (well, except in a good way, but we won’t go there!), so no coal for me! I’d love to receive a copy of James Wood’s How Fiction Works. I enjoy Wood’s writing generally, and have read great things about this book; just this week, in an email exchange about Revolutionary Road, Joshua Henkin suggested I read this latest book.
There you have it, Santa … one more Christmas wish. And in case you need a little reminder of how far back you and I go, how close we used to be, I’m enclosing a photo from way back in 1967. Boy, my mother hated that brown corduroy dress, but you know I was very strong-willed during those Terrible Twos (no, I haven’t outgrown that stubborn streak!)
It’s been great catching up with you, Santa! We’re all looking forward to your visit next week — and we’ll have your favorite cookies (and cheese!) waiting for you in the usual spot!
Lots of love, and the best to Mrs. Claus and all the Elves — make sure you and the herd get a good night’s sleep on the 23rd!
D.

The picture is absolutely adorable!
Don’t tell Santa, but I’m counteracting the niceness with the evil thoughts I’m currently thinking about my neighbor and his exceedingly loud barking dogs. Grrrrrrr.
Love the picture! I’m sure Santa appreciates the reminder.
What a cutie you were!
I’m visiting from BBOTW. How Fiction Works is a great read! I highly reccomend it.
Such a cute picture! May you get all the books you want for Christmas…I know that I asked for a lot!
Aaaaah, what a cute picture!
I love the photo! And good for you for keeping your stubborness … it helps to have it in life! Hope you get all your Christmas wishes answered!
LOVE the corduroy dress. Love the letter too. Hope you get what you asked for!
What a great little photo of you. How adorable. That book sounds like something I’d like under my Christmas tree as well. LOL
What a great photo, cordouray and all! Love it!
The picture makes it!
Hope you get your wish, and Merry Christmas!
I love this, Dawn. And I hope you get that book!!!
I had fun going thru a box of photos (from my grandmother’s “stuff”) to find a pic of me and Santa. My parents have a lot still in albums at their house, but I really liked the visit down memory lane myself.
Happy holidays to all – may all your dreams come true!
