Friday Finds: January 2, 2009 (yes, 2009!)

Friday Finds is a weekly meme hosted by MizB at Should be Reading.  Click over there to read more about books that have tempted people this week.

I became interested in Soiled Doves: Prostitution in the Early West by Anne Seagraves after I read this review at Kittling: Books.  The book was published in 1994, and I haven’t been able to find it to buy at any of my usual haunts; I’ll be looking at the library for this one!

Illustrated with rare photos, this strong book provides a touching insight into the lives of the ladies of the night.

This speaks directly to my interests – I was a history major (social history, not military history), and this sounds like a fascinating case study of a sector that doesn’t get much exposure (sorry, no pun intended!)

What books grabbed your attention this week?
