Book Giveaway: *Fodor’s New York City 2009*

Ready for a new giveaway for the New Year?  I have a brand-new copy of Fodor’s New York City 2009, the wonderful travel guide I reviewed here.

To enter, just leave a comment below, indicating what you’d like to do if you could visit New York – Broadway show?  fine dining?  people watching in Central Park?  shopping?  any particular museum or tourist spot you’d hit?

Comments will be open until midnight Friday January 16; I’ll use random.org to pull one lucky winner and announce the name on Saturday January 17.

In the meantime, turn up your speakers and sing along with Old Blue Eyes:

  • I’ve never been to NYC but it is high on my list of things to do. If I win this book, it may happen this year — maybe for my birthday in early November!

I would have to go to the Met. And I’d need to go to Magnolia Bakery on Bleecker Street. And I’d have to go to a fantastic Italian deli (yet to be determined – this is why I need this book).

My 18 year old daughter and I go into the city a few times a year. We’ve been to Yankee Stadium. We’ve been to see Hairspray, Wicked and The Little Mermaid. West Side Story is next on our list. Our choices of restaurants aren’t well planned out…..we need to work on that!

  • I went there a few years ago and did most of the touristy stuff. But, it was REALLY cold! I want to go there again, when it is warm, and experience more of what it would be like to live there.

  • I’ve been to New York City a few times, but I’d so love to go again. I love broadway shows, shopping, and restaurants.

  • I would love to win this guide for 2 reasons – 1. I will be visiting NYC with my daughter’s orchestra next spring and 2. my son may be going to college at NYU in the fall. This guide would help me have an idea of where to go and get a sense of direction/neighborhoods before arriving. As for tourist stuff, I’d like to see Times Square and Central Park.

  • Lo

i would love to go and see a broadway show and walk around central park.

  • It a BIG APPLE,,,,,,,I am visiting this spring/summer to see my daughter who lives/works there,,,,,,,,NYC has the best food on
earth! They compete with one another “to be the best” so I am on
for dinner for sure. Castles are my passion, I would love to tour the castles, especially on Long Island, I am fond of historic buildings and fine wines. “Audrey Hepburn” is a classic and her legend rings throughout NYC, it would be wonderful to review her whole story.
New York is a world within a world away!

  • We are going in August to NYC (my first time!) to visit Daniel’s publisher. I’m actually not sure what I want to see, so there’s a reason I NEED this guide!

  • I’ve posted this on Win A Book. No need to enter the contest.

On our next trip to New York City (we hope to go in the spring), I’ve promised my 8-y.o. nephew that we would find the statute of Balto in Central Park. He’s fascinated by Balto story of heroism (and he LOVES New York!). This guide would be great — thanks for the chance to win it!

  • My husband and I have never been to NYC. He planned a trip for us for our 10th anniversary, but we had to cancel it, so we’re still hoping to go there someday soon. We would love to visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art, take in a show and then see as much of the city as possible.

I would do all the touristy things. The Empire State Building, The Statue of Liberty, The Twin Towers Site and that type of thing.

  • I would love to visit Time Square, Twin Towers site, a Broadway show, NBC studios, Chinatown, Statue of Liberty. I was there in 2000 and had a blast and I would love to go back.

I would definitely love to go to a Broadway Show, but also MOMA.

  • Beth

I haven’t been to New York in ages! I’d love to visit the Met again! That would be the Metropolitan Museum of Art, not the Mets baseball team in their new stadium!

I would love to see Saturday Night Live, LIVE!

  • I’d like to take the boat to the Statue of Liberty….ran out of time when I was there and didn’t make it….

  • Oh we love NYC! Exploring Central Park with your 4-year-old is one of our favorite things to do. But I’m hoping we get to explore some of the museums someday! We’re trying to plan a 2 day trip in the spring so this book sure would come in handy! : )

  • I’d love a copy. We’re always looking for new unknown and unusual places to eat downtown. Please enter me in the drawing. Thanks !
