Did you read our most recent Spotlight on Bookstores, about The Book Barn, a huge used bookstore compound near the Connecticut shore … if not, get back there, now!
The post was written by the engaging and talented Sarah Pekkanen, whose debut novel, Way Beyond Compare, will be published by Atria early next year. Sarah describes the book as being “about the tangled relationship between two very different twin 29-year-old sisters.” Rights have already been sold in six countries … this is going to be quite a debut!
To get a taste of Sarah’s writing style, read a few of her past newsletters - they’re funny, chatty, and give us a glimpse of what it takes to write and publish a book (I’m thinking a sense of humor and a lot of chocolate in addition to writing skill and perseverance!)
Sarah has offered to send out a book from the Atria catalog, authored by Jennifer Weiner, Lisa Tucker or Jodi Picoult.
To enter the giveaway:
- sign up for Sarah’s newsletter by visiting her website
- leave a comment below, indicating that you’ve signed up for the newsletter (or that you couldn’t wait for today and signed up after reading Sarah’s Spotlight post on Tuesday)
- wait for Saturday February 7, when we’ll draw a winner!
- giveaway is open to US/Canada addresses only; no P.O. Boxes, please
Have fun looking through her website; you’re guaranteed to smile, if not laugh out loud!
update: The winner has been chosen; this post is now closed to comments.

I have to say that her humor came out in that bookstore post. I was fascinated by the free cookies and refreshments at the Book Barn to refuel you and get you buying more books.
I’ve signed up! Is this contest open to Canadian residents?
I agree with Serena, I really like the idea of free goodies as an incentive to buy more books! (Not that I’d need any incentives, mind you.)
*ahem*
There is no chocolate in this post. I was promised chocolate.
No need to enter me, of course. I’ve got this posted at Win a Book — and hope to hear more from Ms. Pekkanen as her publication date draws near!
I signed up for your newsletter. Can’t wait to read your book!
