Teaser Tuesdays: Why can’t we all just get along?!

TEASER TUESDAYS is hosted by MizB at Should Be Reading and asks you to:

  • Grab your current read.
  • Let the book fall open to a random page.
  • Share with us two (2) “teaser” sentences from that page, somewhere between lines 7 and 12.  You also need to share the title of the book that you’re getting your “teaser” from … that way people can have some great book recommendations if they like the teaser you’ve given!  My tease for this week is:
  • From where we stood, there was a perfect view down into the city.  They’d taken aim at her from here, as she stood holding her infant son in a UN water line.

{gulp!} You can imagine what might happen next!  This is from Geraldine Brooks’ People of the Book which is an incredible work from the author who won the Pulitzer Prize for her novel March.  The passage is set a few years ago, in war-torn Sarajevo.  The theme of oppressing those who are different runs throughout the book.

Oh, and did I mention that Geraldine Brooks will be reading at our local bookstore on Sunday?!  J will have to do all the afternoon kid runs – birthday parties, project groups, and library outings … I will be busy!

Now, who said the quote in the title of my post?  It’s not from the book …
