Mailbox Monday, hosted by Marcia at the Printed Page, is a weekly round-up of the books that have crossed over my doorstep this week:
The Towering World of Jimmy Choo by Lauren Goldstein Crowe and Sagra Maceira de Rosen. Kind of ironic that I’m reviewing this book. I wouldn’t know a Jimmy Choo from a Slim Jim (or a Choo-Choo!). I usually wear flats (fashionable, yet practical. Or, is that practical, yet fashionable?). I’m fascinated by the business behind the shoes!
The Red Leather Diary by Lily Koppel. I’m co-hosting a giveaway of this amazing true story; check the links in the sidebar …
The Girl She Used to Be by David Christofano. This will be published mid-March by
Hachette.
Pulitzer-prize winning March by Geraldine Brooks. I bought this when I saw Brooks at an author event yesterday. More about that later in the week.
What’s new on your bookshelf? I tend to be fairly evenly split between fiction and non-fiction; is there a pattern to your reading?

You had a great week. The Red Leather Diary looks so good.
Nice list!
Pleased you’ll be reviewing my book! But it’s Lauren (not Laura) and Crowe (not Crow)! Make sure they send you a copy of the final book — the galleys are really, really rough.
Thanks,
Lauren + Sagra
Oh, oh…I’ve requested The Red Leather Diary for a giveaway and review as well – I was so interested in the story behind the book! I can’t wait to read your thoughts on it!
Kathy – yes, I love the variety!
Mary – ditto
Lauren – mea culpa! I’ve corrected the spelling of your name
Wendy – The diary contents (and the expansive research Koppel did) is as interesting as the story her finding it and connecting with Florence Wolfson.
Another good week…Jimmy Choo! I just love that name! Happy reading!
Hey how did you get the Red Leather Diary? I’ve been trying to get a copy of that for review for months!
I’ve seen both of these around lately and they both sound great.
Those sound great! I also received The Girl She Used To Be. You can check out what else I got on my blog if you’d like.
I’m with you on the shoes! I pretty much only wear sneakers or Crocs! (Just sensible — not fashionable). But you never know what will make a good book!
And as to your question, I do kind of alternate between fiction and non-fiction, I’ve noticed. I’m surprised by how many people I meet who only read fiction. I’ve often found that the most compelling books are the non-fiction ones.
I have a few books in queue on my bookshelf, but I am browsing for an ‘easy’ read to get me into the weekend and through President’s Day.
Ohhhh – I really want to find a copy of Red Leather Diary! I think it sounds like an amazing story!
I just picked up two new ones — The Outliers and The Associate. One non-fiction and one fiction. How’s that for balance? And I’m with you about the shoes. Yesterday at the gas station I forgot to shut off the pump and when I pulled out the nozzle, I doused my shoes with gasoline. Thankfully I wasn’t wearing Jimmy Choos to take my kids to school (more like beat-up sneakers that the dog once chewed on).
The Red Leather Diary looks awesome! I also received The Girl She Used to Be.
Thank you for stopping by the mailbox this week. I, too, have ‘The Girl She Used To Be’ in my TBR pile.
