We were on vacation last week, which was great fun. I’m still not back mentally, so I don’t have my bookish week fully planned. This is a rough outline, with some personal fun stuff thrown in … check back and see what really happens!
Monday 2/23 – It’s time for Mailbox Monday; our postman was busy this week!
Tuesday 2/24 – Depending on how I connect with the question, I may wax rhapsodic (or just blather!) about Tuesday Thingers, hosted by Wendi. I also plan to participate in Teaser Tuesday; it’s always fun to see snippets of what others are reading.
Wednesday 2/25 – This week’s Spotlight on Bookstores is written by Margot at Joyfully Retired. Margot’s blog is a beautiful reflection of her life – joyfully retired and travelling the country with her husband. She shares about a special bookstore in Sebastopol, California.
I’ve found at least one word to share in Bermudaonion‘s new weekly Wondrous Words meme; will it be familiar to you?
Thursday 2/26 – What will the Booking Thru Thursday topic be this week? I’ve missed the past several weeks, so I hope I have something to share.
I’ll be reviewing Susan Helene Gottfried’s The Demo Tapes: Year One. You may recognize some of the characters from Susan’s blog, West of Mars. I had a fun time with Trevor and the gang tagging along on my vacation; visit us Thursday and find out what we did. If I get my act together, Susan will be along for an interview, too.
Friday 2/27 - It looks like I’ll be giving away a copy of The Demo Tapes: Year One! Check in to see how to get your name entered.
Saturday 2/28 – Harvard/Princeton hockey game with the kids tonight! J and I agree that, like our Red Sox/Yankees rivalry, this event underscores how opposites attract!
Sunday 2/29 – Today is the second race in the Wild Rover series; it’s a 3-week series starting with a 3-mile run, then 4, then 5. Each race is sponsored by an Irish pub in the Merrimack Valley, and has food, beer, and live music after the race. Here’s a pic of me and my friend Laura after the 3-mile run (held 2/22/09). My time was 34:11, an average of 11:24 per mile. Last year’s time was a little better at 33:27 (11:09), but, still respectable for a “mature” runner out in the sleet
Three more cool tidbits – personalized bibs had our numbers sandwiched between first and last names, they used a “single use” paper tag with timing chip instead of the heavier plastic that flops around on your laces (see a pic and fuller description here), and the pieces of the 3 weekly finisher’s medals fit together to make one large medal (yes, I’m in it for the bling and the t-shirt!). This picture was taken inside the bar, on a cell phone; if you want to see more silliness, let me know and I’ll post some others (note the green sequined bow ties, this is a St. Paddy’s race, after all!)
Other than this, I must post several reviews that have been percolating. You may see some quick and dirty shorter reviews at She is Too Fond of Books until I get caught up.
Can you share some highlights from your calendar for the week?

I’ll be hosting K. Celeste Bryan on my blog tomorrow (Monday). That should be fun.
Tuesday, I’ll be helping put the local newspaper together.
The rest of the week is still open as I haven’t had time to get my schedule squared away yet!
I should be here all week, so if you get those interview questions together, you know where to find me!
Your organization never ceases to amaze me. I can’t wait to see what your new word is.
LuAnn – I’ll pop over and check out your interview
Susan – OK, my act has “gotten together.” Looking forward to hosting you here on Thursday.
Kathy – The Week Ahead is always just a “serving suggestion”. You know plans have a way of changing …
Thanks for stopping by my blog today. Kat sure was a pleasure to work with!
