Maybe you’ve been reading West of Mars – the Meet and Greet for a while …

Maybe you read my review of The Demo Tapes and want to learn more about the fictional world of Trevor Wolff and ShapeShifter …

Maybe you read my interview with the author, and can’t wait to read more of her clever writing …

Whatever the reason, now is your chance to enter to win a signed/personalized copy of ShapeShifter: The Demo Tapes, Year 1!

All you have to do is leave a comment below, telling me who you think of when you think “rock and roll.”  I’ll pull one name in a random drawing on March 14.

I’ll start off with my answer in the first comment, here’s a hint:

  • I graduated high school in 1983 (OMG, did I just admit that?!) … give me anything AC/DC, Aerosmith or The Cars and I’m happy. Pink Floyd, too, if you consider that “rock.”

The pic is the outside of the *Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster* in Disney World. The premise is that you’re in a car with Aerosmith, late to a concert. The coaster twists and turns (and goes upside down) while an Aerosmith soundtrack is blasted thru the building. Fun stuff!

  • I graduated in the 80′s as well. This was an easy and delightful question.

The first thing that came to mind with Rock and Roll was Joan Jett (and the blackhearts) single “I love rock and roll”. I believe she was a breakthrough for women rockers.

The other one band that comes to mind is “Survivor” and their song “Eye of The Tiger”. Not only was it my brother favorite it was also re-arranged to blast over the speakers in school to the tune of “Eye of the Hurricanes” my high school mascot.

Thanks for the trip down memory lane. I would love to enter for this book please. Thanks! Indigo

  • I’m posting this from my Kindle. woohoo!
Please enter me. I’m bad and haven’t yet ordered my copy from Susan. LOL

  • I graduated from high school in the ’70s. When I think of rock and roll, I think of The Rolling Stones.

  • I agree with Kathy. I graduated in 1974 and it was all about the Stones. But I also liked CCR, Chicago and Steppenwolf.

  • I graduated in ’93, but I can agree with Aerosmith and AC/DC. I’d add band like Guns ‘n Roses, Bon Jovi.

  • Anne

My mind automatically goes to The Rolling Stones but after a little thought I go to Guns N Roses. KISS and AC/DC!

    Thanks for a great giveaway!

  • AC/DC, Aerosmith, Dire Straits, KISS, CCR, and more…but that’s all that comes to mind immediately :) Thanks for a great giveaway!

  • When I hear “rock and roll,” I first think of the main character in my novel, because she is a rock and rolling electric guitarist.

Then I think of Keith Richards.

  • katayoun

oh my, my age shows, it’s elvis and buddy holly for me!!

  • bridget3420

    Aerosmith!! I love them:)

  • Donna

The first band that comes to mind is The Who. But I can come up with a whole list as well fairly quickly.

  • Wendy aka misswendiki

Actually, the first thing that I think of after “rock and roll” is “put another on the jukebox baby” so I guess it’s Joan Jett!

  • Tracey Byram

I think of Led Zepplin, Rolling Stones and Chuck Berry.

  • mindy

i think of elvis he had some funky moves thanks for the giveaway

  • I definitely think of Bon Jovi and Aerosmith. But after watching a Top Chef show yesterday, the first thing that came to mind when I read this post is the Foo Fighters.

  • MJ

I graduated in the ’70′s. Gotta pick the Rolling Stones. They’ve endured the test of time.

  • Kim F.

When I think “Rock and Roll” I think about my high school days so Maggie Mae by Rod Stewart comes to mind.

  • Cheryl K

I think of 80′s rock – big hair bands – Poison was a fave LOL, Def Leppard – love 80′s rock n roll

  • OK…I just got caught up on what all of this is because I was little confused but now I understand. First, she sounds amazing. Second, this is a cool way to create and participate in a book writing process. It really sounds like a creative way to put this all together and I am intrigued. If only there were more time in the day to fully get to all of this cool stuff!

I would LOVE to be entered. When I think of Rock and Roll, I think of my dad, who took it upon himself to “school” me in rock and roll after I came home from the Peter Frampton/Bee Gees movie of Sgt. Pepper and was singing the songs and had no idea who the Beatles were! He was HORRIFIED so he created my own “School of Rock,” which involved seeing “The Last Waltz” in the movie theater (followed by “Let It Be”), listening to old blues records, and attempting to take me (at age 12) to see the Stones in concert (nixed by my mom).

  • Even though I graduated in 2000, I still look back to the classics of rock. My house was always very music orientated and my parents loved 70s rock. It was their era of music, after all. So, that is what I grew up all of my life. When I think of rock, I think of bands like Led Zeppelin, The Doors, and Aerosmith.

  • Early 80′s and it was The Cars, Van Halen and watching MTV as though we’d never seen a tv before.

  • Dawnie, were you expecting all these classic rock lovers? I sure wasn’t!

  • Debbie

Please include me in your drawing. I graduated in the 70′s to me I loved Rolling Stones, Bob Seger, Queen, Heart. I loved them all. Thanks

  • Lisa H

My first instinct is to name the Rolling Stones. Then others come to mind.

  • kim v

  • Sharon Walling

I graduated high school in 1974. When I think of rock N roll, the first group that comes to mind is Bruce Springsteen. I also have to mention that my cousin was the 1st drummer for Bruce Springsteen.
The book sounds great. Please enter me.

    sharon54220@gmail.com

  • The first bands that come to mind is Van Halen & Billy Idol, I was also a teen in the 80′s.

  • I would love to win Susan’s book! I think of Bruce Springsteen! He’s my favorite. With U2 running a very, very close second!

I blogged about your giveaway here:

  • How exciting! I would love to win Susan’s book too!

  • Betty

I graduated late 60′s and Rock and Roll still belonged to the king, Elvis. Thanks for the giveaway, I’d love to read this book

  • Kathy D

Bon Jovi but think I am a little younger than some of the people posting

  • J Chaborek

I graduated in 2004, seems a little younger than the majority of posters, but I do love to read nonetheless. Hearing the phrase “rock & roll” does conjure up images of Keith Richards & the ’70s, but more so bands I grew up with such as Sonic Youth, Smashing Pumpkins & Hole.

  • Becky

I think of my youngest son. He now has a variety of about 10 guitars hanging on his walls and I have listened to “the band” practice more times than I really care to remember LOL. After that I think of Bon Jovi. It was fun reading the responses here. Brought back some good memories.

    Thanks!
