I’ve been behind on scheduling posts for the Spotlight on Bookstores series; I’m planning to pick this up again on a weekly basis now that a couple of big family projects are behind us!
In the meantime, Margot at Joyfully Retired sent me a link to the most interesting bookstores of the world that you can take a look at. This is a fun photo collection of international bookstores.
My favorites are the stores that are housed in buildings with amazing architecture, originally intended for something else — the church and the theater are outstanding. They remind me of Kittling: Book’s essay about Barter Books, in a former railway station.
Which are your favorite photos?

Oh, by far my favorite is the church. If I won the lottery, this is exactly what I would use it for. It almost makes me emotional, looking at these pictures!
Yay, I’m happy to hear we’re in for more spotlight posts! My favourite pic is the one with the red stairs, although I’d be happy to visit any of those bookshops! (I can’t believe I’ve been to Paris several times and never visited Shakespeare & Co!)
Too bad there are no cool bookstores in Frankfurt.
Sandy – lottery money for visiting the bookstores or creating one in a fantastic bldg? I’d like to do both!
Avis – the photo of the red stairs is very arty.
Lenore – really? none? Cool is in the eye of the beholder, find your bliss
I was wondering where the spotlight posts were. I’m glad to hear they will be back.
