I’m so excited to announce a giveaway from author Michelle Richmond! Her novel No One You Know will be coming out in paperback on May 19, and Michelle has offered 3 signed copies of the book to readers of She is Too Fond of Books!
Here’s the back-of-the-book blurb:
All her life Ellie Enderlin had been known as Lila’s sister. Until one day, without warning, the shape of their family changed forever. Twenty years ago, Lila, a top math student at Stanford, was murdered in a crime that was never solved. In the aftermath of her sister’s death, Ellie entrusted her most intimate feelings to a man who turned the story into a bestselling true crime book—a book that both devastated her family and identified one of Lila’s professors as the killer.
Decades later, two Americans meet in a remote village in Nicaragua. Ellie is now a professional coffee buyer, an inveterate traveler and incapable of trust. Peter is a ruined academic. And their meeting is not by chance. As rain beats down on the steaming rooftops of the village, Peter leaves Ellie with a gift—the notebook that Lila carried everywhere, a piece of evidence not found with her body. Stunned, Ellie will return home to San Francisco to explore the mysteries of Lila’s notebook, filled with mathematical equations, and begin a search that has been waiting for her all these years. It will lead her to a hundred-year-old mathematical puzzle, to a lover no one knew Lila had, to the motives and fate of the man who profited from their family’s anguish—and to the deepest secrets even sisters keep from each other. As she connects with people whose lives unknowingly swirled around her own, Ellie will confront a series of startling revelations—from the eloquent truths of numbers to confessions of love, pain and loss.
And, for a bigger taste of the novel, you can read the first chapter online.
So, how do you get in the running for one of the three books? Just leave a comment below, answering this question: If you were presented with a notebook, like Ellie was, would you be able to leave it closed and keep the past in the past, or would you feel compelled to read the notebook and reveal its secrets? This would be tough for me! The trouble with secrets is that once you hold one, you can’t forget it, even if you want to … Yet, the temptation of a personal notebook would prove too much for me to resist!
The giveaway is open until midnight EST on May 18; I’ll announce the winners on May 19, the day the paperback is available. Due to mailing restrictions, giveaway is open only to US and Canadian mailing addresses.

Isn’t there a saying that curiousity killed the cat? Well I admit it I am nosey and probably would read it. Sounds like a good book. Can you add me please?

I would absolutely read it! It would beg me to open it and read it!
Wow I am so totally hooked by the back cover blurb! I really have to get myself a copy so I know what happens. And I just gotta say how much I really like looking at the cover. It’s beautiful and the women make me smile =D
To answer your question, I know I would open it no matter how big “the can of worms” was. Even if I knew it would only pain me and make things worse…if I was in Ellie’s position I would open it *sigh*. I have a thing with not being able to let go of the past sometimes, I’m working on that quirk though.
Thanks so much for the chance to win and I’m glad I came across your post!

No way could I keep the book closed. Books are meant to be opened. Now as to keeping a secret, I can do that as I did it for a living for many years. (I was a human resource professional.) This sounds like an excellent book that I’d like to read.
I would definately read the book.
please count me in on the giveaway!
I would have a very tough time keeping the book closed. I am sure I would think of it none stop until I finally broke down and opened it up. I would love to read this book. Please add me to the giveaway

Heck yes I would read it! I actually have a journal with all my deepest darkest secrets that will only be read after my death. I understand that some very disturbing things may be brought to my attention if I read the notebook that was presented to me, but I know it would eat me up inside even more if I never let myself discover answers that I may have been looking for for a long time.
Unfortunately, curiosity seems to always get the best of me. I’m sure I would open the notebook and read through it.
I think I would not open the notebook. Any secret that would lay inside would probably cause me emotional pain… if you put it away eventually you would forget it existed.
I have to say that I would read it. I would try to keep the secrets within it, but knowing things others don’t can be difficult and it would color everything related to the secrets and the people they might affect.
Thanks
I would read it because it was a part of this person I loved and knowing her as fully as it was possible to would bring me a type of comfort, even if painful secrets were revealed.
I really love this author’s writing and would love to have a signed copy. Love your blog!
I believe if something is personal it is personal and I would not read it. Please include my name in your giveaway.
