Yesterday I posted about a wonderful opportunity to enter a drawing for a Red Carpet Promo package to the US premiere of the movie Pope Joan, based on the novel by Donna Woolfolk Cross.
I know you’ve all run out to the store and bought a copy, or ordered it online and are pacing while you wait for it to be delivered … here’s your chance to WIN a copy, inscribed by the author, sent anywhere on the planet. That’s right, this giveaway is open worldwide!
If you win, you can give the gently-read copy you bought to a friend and have a little book discussion … or encourage your entire book group to read Pope Joan.
To enter the giveaway, simply leave a comment below, telling me how you’d like the book inscribed if you win – don’t worry, I’ll double-check before I send the info to the author!
I’ll accept entries until midnight EST on July 25. Check back here on Sunday July 26 when I’ll draw the winner’s name from all entries. The announcement will be late in the day, as I’ll just be getting back from the Breast Cancer 3-Day walk … stay tuned!
Update: The winner has been selected, and this post is now closed to comments.

Wow, what a great giveaway. It has been a LONG time since I’ve had a book signed for me (it was Kristy’s Big Idea, the first Babysitter’s Club book, back when I was about 9), so I’m stumped about an inscription. How about a simple ‘To Brittany, Happy reading, From Donna Woolfolk Cross’?
Hmmm. Well, I’d love to see:
To Jennie, never forget the world is full of fascinating women.
Donna Woolfolk Cross
Fun contest!
I’m never good at coming up with inscriptions…its probably a good thing I’m not an author. (Well..and I have no talent, but other than that….)
How about a simple..”To Kelly, Enjoy!, Donna Woolfolk Cross” ?
I would like it inscribed: To my bookloving niece Camille
Enjoy Aunty M.
(ps) I would read it first and then pass it on to my niece who loves historical fiction and I love sharing them with her.
Everyone reads this book in Germany. Everyone!
Hmm…how about “To Erin, may Joan inspire you! Donna Woolfolk Cross”
Wow what an exciting giveaway!!!!! This would be so cool!
I think it should read: To Sheila, may you always continue your journey through a world of books
Thanks for this offer! have a wonderful rest of your Sunday!
Just signed by the author is totally fine with me!
Mercy. Anything would be thrilling! How about “To Debbie, a woman who loves books.”
I would like it to just have my name in it.
‘To Valorie.’ Nice and simple.
What a great giveaway.
I’d like mine to say, To Becky. Life is like an open book. Donna Woolfolk Cross.
I had trouble coming up with things at BEA to have authors write. Something simple:
Enjoy, Nicole!
Riffing off of the second comment: “The world has always been full of fascinating women. -Donna Woolfolk Cross”
Can’t wait to read this!
To Mary,
Enjoy the story!
Donna
How about To Eileen, Dull women seldom make history! Donna Woolfolk Cross
Please inscribe it as follows:
“Dear Samuel,
May you always pope your popiest pope in this pope-favoring pope.
Love and Best,
Pope Joan”
How about: “Mandie, may you find inspiration in this story. Donna Woolfolk Cross”
I’ve never thought about how I’d want a book to be inscribed to me…. I think I’d really enjoy seeing:
Sarah, always do what makes you happy, no matter what… Unless mini monkeys take over the world… Enjoy!
-Donna Woolfolk Cross
I would love to enter this contest!! If I win this, I would love for it to be inscribed with:
To Heather,
Aspire to greatness in all that you do. Enjoy the book!
-Donna Woolfolk Cross
To Marjorie, I hope you enjoy your first autographed book ever.
Please count me in!
Hmm, I’d like for it to have something like:
Issa,
Hope you enjoy reading this book. Spread the book love!
Donna Woolfolk Cross
I’d like to leave it up to the author, so long as she says “Emily” somewhere in it.
Signed by the author is fine by me, or whatever she feels like saying. I love surprises.
Oooh- How about: To Madeline. Enjoy!
Really, anything is fine!
I’m inclined to ask the author to sign it however she wants… but I’d be thrilled if she could write something like “For generations of feminists to come”…
Thanks — I’m a HUGE, huge fan of historical fiction — particularly with women protagonists!
I would love to be entered, and having the book signed to me is just fine. For inscriptions I’d rather be surprised by what the author writes.
I am trying to think of something clever, but nothing comes to mind. I would probably pass it on to my mother, so something like, “To Nancy, I hope you enjoy this book. Your daughter says that you are an inspiration. –Donna Woolfolk Cross”
I would love to have it say, “To Lara, Enjoy!”
Mmmm…. I don’t mind, whatever the author wants (and my name too jejej)
