Teaser Tuesdays: adrenaline rush

teaser-tuesdaysTEASER TUESDAYS is hosted by MizB at Should be Reading; I’ve modified this version to allow more than two sentences from anywhere on the page:

.

.

  • Grab your current read.
  • Let the book fall open to a random page.
  • Share with us a  “teaser” sentences from that page.  Please share the title of the book that you’re getting your “teaser” from … that way people can have some great book recommendations if they like the teaser you’ve given!

My teaser for this week:

He lay on the bed in the guesthouse and stared at the water spots on the ceiling.  Now that adrenaline was no longer suffusing his brain, now that he was calm enough to think, he wondered exactly what had happened.  He didn’t remember anything clearly beyond the point at which he’d entered [the] house.  After that it was a clouded memory, like a river laden with swirling silt.wife-of-gods

This is from the novel Wife of the Gods by Kwei Quartey, which I’m reading for a blog tour with TLC Book Tours next week.  I’m loving this book, which is set in Ghana; the author has done a wonderful job of wrapping a murder mystery inside the culture of contemporary Africa.

Would you share a few teaser sentences from your current read?  Where/when is it set?
