I love Anne Lamott. I've only gotten to read Bird by Bird but I'm always on the lookout for her other nonfiction. I always go to Bird by Bird when I'm having a hard time with my writing. It always seems to calm me down a little bit, especially the chapter on Shitty First Drafts.

Anne Lamott is one of the first writing books I read and it is a gem. Unfortunately, I still don’t own my own copy. How odd is that!

Mary – the first few chapters of BIRD BY BIRD were like Lamott was talking directly to me. Helped boost me up and out!

Kathy – that was the only book for me! I can’t list the others where little eyes might see them

charley – the review will be an easy/quick one; maybe next week …

Jeane – I may have to copy the pic of the bookmark from your site. My young man has dozens of books strewn around his room (I don’t know where he gets that!), and I don’t know which one has the batty bat!

jenny – thanks! None of them are specifically for review, all ‘at leisure’ reads. I will enjoy them.

zibilee – it was quite fun to get the packages, since I wasn’t expecting any books this week. And that Lamott book was a treat for myself.

Sandy – I know, old habits are hard to change. I’ve fought ‘but we’ve always done it this way’ a couple times. And, yes, the generosity of other readers is so refreshing … I’m trying to ‘pay it forward’

I’ve given thought to trying to convince my kids’ school to switching to an indie store for our book fair. I know they do them. I would love to throw some business at them. I don’t think my librarian is too hot on the idea though. She has a comfort level with Scholastic. That is a great bunch of books. The book blogging community is amazing with those “just because” gifts. I’m blown away.
