I’m joining Julie and Kathy (and a whole bunch of other over-stuffed-from -Thanksgiving people) in the grand finale of their The 12 Days of Christmas Cookies series. Click over to their blogs today to find links to lots of tried and true recipes. BookingMama features candy and chocolate cookie recipes; you’ll find more traditional cookie recipes at BermudaOnion.
My contribution is a recipe for Easy Craisin-O Bars; this is a good one for the kids. Once the butter and marshmallows have been taken off the stovetop they can get involved and will enjoy licking their messy fingers when the ‘cooking’ is done.
Ingredients:
- 4 tablespoons lightly salted butter, plus butter for pan
- 1 10 oz. bag marshmallows
- 6 cups Cheerios (original/plain O’s)
- 1 cup Craisins
- optional: 1 cup mini chocolate chips
Directions:
- Butter bottom and sides of 10 x 15 inch rimmed baking sheet
- In large saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add marshmallows, stirring occasionally, until marshmallows have melted
- Remove from heat and stir in Cheerios, Craisins (and chocolate chip if you’re using them)
- Immediately transfer mixture to prepared baking sheet, pressing down with wax paper or buttered fingers or spatula
- Allow to cool about an hour, then cut into bars

I love craisins! Those cookie bars sound delicious and easy! Thanks for joining our virtual cookie swap!
These sound great! Hey, by the way Dawn, two HUGE THUMBS UP on the Cranberry Relish! I swear, I could have sat there and eaten the whole bowl of it. I believe that recipe will be part of my gig every holiday from now on!
This looks like a definite improvement on plain cheerios!
Twin B loves craisins… bet she would make these on her own!
Ditto on Sandy’s comment. She said all I was planning to say.
I can make these for Booking Son with just a few adjustments! Thanks for sharing!
That sounds great and so simple! My kind of recipe – thanks for sharing!
like a take off on rice crispy treats…with craisins…
actually, it occurs to me that craisins might be nice in those too.
yum.
These sound yummy. I just wish they made vegetarian marshmallows!
Here’s my post: http://holisticknitter.blogspot.com/2009/11/weekend-cooking-food-meme.html
I have my nieces next weekend, and I’m always looking for new recipes to try with them in the kitchen. I’m putting this one on the list! YUM!
These look really good and different than most of the other cookie recipes I have seen. I think I am going to try these out during my cookie baking week. Thanks!!
