TEASER TUESDAYS is hosted by MizB at Should be Reading; I’ve modified this version to allow more than two sentences from anywhere on the page:
- Grab your current read.
- Let the book fall open to a random page.
- Share with us one or two “teaser” sentences” from that page. Please share the title of the book that you’re getting your “teaser” from … that way people can have some great book recommendations if they like the teaser you’ve given!
Here are my two teaser sentences:
Snow frightens me: its relentlessness; its power to cover up all that’s familiar. I leaned my chin against the back of the couch and watched the feathery dots smash against the window.
This is from Woman Made of Sand, a book of linked short stories by Joann Kobin. I absolutely love her writing; it’s soft, yet powerful, much like the snow she describes in these two sentences. Have you ever heard snow described as feathery, yet able to smash at the same time? It’s a wonderful contradiction that made me pause when I read it.
What are you reading this week? Would you share a few teaser sentences?

I agree with you…your teaser does sounds both soft and powerful.
I might check this book one day…I love books with good metaphore
This sounds beautiful!

We’ve had lots of feathery smashing in Indiana. We are now headed for the airport, and it is 5 degrees outside! Our frigid 41 degress in Florida is going to feel like a heat wave.
Wow, such imagery! Great teaser!
Very vivid!
Teaser Tuesdays: Heart’s Blood by Juliet Marillier

An interesting description of snow, I miss snow now that I live in the south. My teaser is up at Calico Contemplations.
Considering it is snowing right now, I definitely agree. Here is my teaser for this week.
I really like the quote you provided from the book, it sounds like a really good read!
ahh true
here’s mine
I like that teaser. Certainly made me look at the snow outside differently.
