It’s time for writing my wrap-up posts for various challenges that I’ve attempted this year.
You know that saying, I’ve got good news and bad news …, well, I’ve got good news and bad news. I’m starting with posts about my more successful reading challenges, and we’ll go from there.
J. Kaye hosted the 100+ Reading Challenge (she’s hosting again in 2010, and I’m joining again). This challenge was to read 100 or more books – any genre, no review required.
I started by listing the books I’ve reviewed this year, since my goal is to review each book I read (or listen to, in the case of audiobooks). I got to 91 read and reviewed (you should see my leaning tower of read-but-not-yet-reviewed books), then filled in nine children’s books that I haven’t minded reading over and over (and over!) again this year.

How do I feel about completing the challenge? I know I read at least 100 books this year, which was the goal of the challenge. I wish I had reviewed them all in 2009, so I could start the New Year with a fresh start. Like a lot of things in life, my reading list will never be a clean slate; I’m OK with that!
So, that’s the good news. Stay tuned for the not-so-good news …
How are you doing with your reading challenges, as we wind down 2009?

Yay for you! When I saw this challenge at the beginning of 2009, I got totally intimidated. I had no idea the number of books I read in a year (turns out it was 113). I am signed up for 2010 though!
I aspire to join the 100+ books read club — but that will probably have to wait a few years. I am very impressed not only with this accomplishment, but the number of books that you actually reviewed!
Congratulations!
Congrats on completing this one. I did too!
I considered joining this one at the beginning of the year, but held back. It’s good I did too because I didn’t even come close. LOL Congratulations on completing this one!
Congrats on finishing this one! At the beginning of the year, I was shooting for 50 books for the year so I was thrilled to read over 100. I know how hard that is to do!
I didn’t join this challenge because I didn’t want to jinx myself, but I think I just may have read 100 books this year! Whew! I’m tired!
You rocked at this challenge! Way to go!!
I got to 90 this year, which is pretty good for me.
But what jazzes me is seeing MY name on the same list with Anita Shreve and other authors I hold in high regard. If you need Demo Tapes: Year 2 to help reach 100 next year, holler. I’ve got a copy I could send in exchange for a review.
Wow! So impressive you read all of these! I’ve been meaning to read The Memorist…
Congratulations, Dawn!
I didn’t get to 100 but I got 20 more than last year, which is huge. I’m trying again in 2010. And I didn’t finish all my reviews either … just think, if you got caught up, what would you write about in the beginning of the year?
Wow – Congrats on completing this challenge! I think I used to read 100+ novels but then blogs came along
Are you signing up for next year?
Yay…this is a big accomplishment Dawn. Hope you enjoyed most of the books that you read and also wishing you a great year for 2010.
