It’s been six months since I played in our inaugural Game On Diet challenge. We had so much fun! Who could forget the good-natured teasing (remember The Twinkies Cookbook that the Ding-Dongs sent me, in an attempt to sabotage? That Twinkie Sushi was yummy!), the sincere encouragement for both team-mates and competition, the crazy tweets about #gameondiet, the constant trips to the bathroom as our bodies adjusted to drinking four liters of water each day …
And the successes! Not only losing weight and tackling bad habits, but gaining a healthy glow to our complexions (truly!), incorporating good habits into our daily routines, a full night’s sleep, and, yes, there’s that camaraderie again … softdrink’s song parodies to cheer us on, team members and competition alike sharing tips and recipes, and the prizes and trophy stand.
Our handy guide for all this fun was The Game On Diet book by Krista Vernoff and Az Ferguson. Not really a “diet” (I have issues with that word), it covers all aspects of a healthy lifestyle – food intake, exercise, hydration, sleep, and habits (both “bad” that weigh us down, and “good” that buoy us up). My review of The Game On Diet is here.
Well, it’s happening again! In our second round, we have 16 people competing on three teams as follows:

Good luck, Dawn!
Good luck, and have fun! I just started Weight Watchers with my mom (it was the only way I could get her to go to the gym with me), and it’s pretty similar. I get to eat more with WW though.
So glad you’re on the winning team with me.
Go Ding Dongs!
Kathy – thanks! It’s so much fun, and progress I make will be good
Jessi – fantastic! I believe WW has a great program, and it’s nice/motivating that you’re doing it with your mom
Beth F – Twinkies rock, there’s no doubt about it.
Rhapsody – you seem to have a typo in your comment; didn’t you mean “Go, Twinkies!”
You are all in a run for your money this time! I just got back from the grocery store loaded with non-fat cheese, greek yogurt and whole grain everything. I’m ready! As far as the Twitter, it is just nuts! You could sit on there all day! I still haven’t completely figured it all out, but I’m there!
I’m officially on “Team Everyone Can Do It!” good luck
Can you hear that one last round of “WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS” Ding Dong version? Just making sure you remember the reigning champions!
I look forward to hearing all about it and making my own progress on the plan I am on!
Sandy – I’m so glad you joined Twitter … it will be much easier to taunt you and the other HoHos (seriously – good luck and have fun with this)
Michelle -it’s true; no matter which team scores highest, we all win (or lose). Thanks for your cheers.
Julie – la la la. I can’t hear you, there’s a cheesestick in my ear
Kathleen – I hope we don’t overwhelm with all the #gameondiet chatter. Good luck with the plan you’re following!
Good luck everyone! I’ll be interested to follow your progress and compare it with my own
Have fun with this. By the way I loved that Twinkie Cookbook, we have tried a few things out of it but I’m too scared to try the turkey and stuffing.
There’s an opened bag of potato chips in my house I’m making my husband take to work and give to his coworkers tomorrow. And I ate the last of the Christmas cookies today.
Which means, I’m ready!
Oh man, I wish I new you guys were going to start this again – I would have joined up!!

So honestly, how many times have you asked yourself “Why the heck am I doing this again???”
I believe my daughter is doing something the same. Best of luck to you.
