She had been asking a lot of questions about the first time I wore a bra & how it felt to get my period the first time. Being 43 yrs old I couldn't answer some of her questions because it had happened so long ago!LOL Then I remembered this book. I remembered how it helped. I'm a mom who is very open with my daughter,will talk about anything with her. I'm not embarrassed to talk. I had to learn on my own. Not a great way to learn about life. This book is great for going from child to "becoming a woman". As my daughter is reading she'll show me a page and ask about it. I'll read it & then so many memories come back & I can then answer questions better. I think it is sad that this book is banned in schools. Our girls are reaching puberty much earlier than we did. Plus the people who have these books banned are the same people who will not talk openly to their kids & then wonder why there is a high rate of teenage sex & pregnancy. These kids have no information at all. When I was looking for this book I was surprised & upset to find out it was banned. I know a lot of you think the book should be updated but I think it's fun when my daughter sees how different the world has changed. It gives her & I more stuff to talk about. I forgot about sanitary napkins with belts. They were horrible at the time but my daughter & I laugh now at how goofy those things were. Sorry this is so long but it was nice to see that other moms out there feel the same way about this book.
