How many titles do you recognize as they flash across the screen?
The story behind Ocoee Middle School’s “Gotta Keep Reading” video is in this article at the Orlando Sentinel. Inspired by the Black-Eyed Peas, the song, with lyrics re-written to promote reading, has garnered the attention of Oprah. Oprah, in turn, has promised to join forces with Target to give the Ocoee Middle School library a complete makeover, including new furniture, computers, and 2000 books.

I know have that song stuck in my head! It’s great though!
I posted this to facebook and played it for all my English classes. I absolutely LOVE it!
Michelle – I can’t believe I hadn’t seen this before today; you’d think it would be more viral in the book blogosphere.
Molly – My 2nd-grader brought it home from her teacher
I definitely sang along! Thanks for posting this!
I love it! How great is that?
I so wish I had speakers on this computer!
I saw this the other day and loved it! This school is not far from me as well!
This is absolutely awesome! It’s too bad it’s sung to the tune of another song because it should be recorded and passed out to all schools. I need to share this.
Wow! KUDOS to the person that motivated all of those kids.
Avis – isn’t it fun!? The smiles on the kids’ faces are priceless!
caite – great that the Black-Eyes Peas allowed them to use the song, too (without looking for a lot of $ for rights)
carol – I hope you were able to listen to it on another computer
zibilee – I imagine it has gotten a lot of press in your area.
Callista – this school has permission from the group to use the music. I don’t know if others can …
Nicole – you can imagine my gang (esp Little Red!) belting this out.
I Gotta Feeling is my song of 2009; it’s been stuck in my head (enjoyably) for the past 8 months. This is AWESOME.
Awesome song. Loved it.
I am really hoping to do this at my school next year. I already have some people lined up to help us…It would SO rock!
Kari – LOL at “stuck in my head (enjoyably)”
Serena – betcha can’t stop singing it!
Erin – that would be so much fun … let me know if it happens!
