Not that I've been there, but this book sounds just like I would expect Italy to be like (does that make any sense?). Anyway, I liked your metaphors better - and your review definitely made me want to give this book a try!

This book sounds lovely, but I bet I would want to start booking plane tickets and with the BEA/BBC festivities coming up...I'm not sure reading this would be a good idea! LOL

This book sounds great. I have it for review, but want to at least read Under the Tuscan Sun first.

Jenners - no kidding, huh?! And you can't vacation that way, you really have to immerse yourself for months at a time. I'd love to think that I'd be up to the "challenge" :)

Alice - I read your post on the reading; sounds like a fun event, and you had some surprise connections while you were there ... always a bonus!

Lorin - I've seen the movie, but it was several (many?) years ago. I'd have to re-read the memoir, then re-view the movie to be able to compare (thank goodness for blogging, or I'd never remember what I read!)

Sounds wonderful! I don't really remember too much of a plot in Under the Tuscan Sun, though. Rebuilding the house, yes, but it was pretty loose (the movie's plot was kind of pulled out of air, I thought).

Jeannie - yes! Read it outdoors with a glass of your favorite (whatever!)

Julie - I haven't tried any yet, but they seem do-able.

Darlene - I'm glad you're enjoying it, too

bermudaonion - it really is! I was expecting it to to be more linear, like UNDER THE TUSCAN SUN was ... once I got used to the format I sunk right into it.

Margot - that explains all my snacking lately :)

Melissa - I haven't read BELLA TUSCANY, so I can't give any comparison. This is definitely a different format than UNDER THE TUSCAN SUN; flip thru it at the bookstore

Beth F - but will you store it in the memoir section or cookbooks? (in your home library)

Lenore - I'm glad your trip is going to work out; yes, between these two books, I'm gnawing constantly

softdrink - carbs within carbs ... washed down with carbs!

Kari - I'm a homebody living variously thru this memoir

Anna - do! And you must read UNDER THE TUSCAN SUN

zibilee - definitely has me yearning to plant a small garden this year (my son has been asking for a few seasons, so I'll have a willing helper)

Oh, this does sound like a wonderful book, and the fact that it has recipes in it makes me even more excited to read it! I am glad that even though it wasn't what you had expected, you still got a lot of enjoyment out of it. Great review. I'll be looking for it!
