… or, at least, giving you a chance to peek at them!
She is Too Fond of Books is featured on Kittling‘s “Scene of the Blog” today. That means you can click over and:
- * see the line-up of crap accessories on my desk
- * try to decipher the titles of the cookbooks in the shelf above
- * guess what the black rectangle on the right-hand side of the wall is
- * imagine escaping to my favorite comfy chair with a book and beverage
And, if you’re an IRL friend (hi, Mom!), you’ll see that there actually IS a desk under my piles of paper! All the paper, mail, catalogs and books are still there, I’ve just pushed them into one stack for the photo (no, no, it’s not really a foot tall, it must be the lens … the camera adds ten inches, you know).
Yes, the secret is out … but they say a cluttered desk is a sign of a great mind, so I’m embracing it!

I can’t wait to see it! I’m heading over there now!
LOLOLOL — Loved it. It’s reassuring to know others have pile of papers too.
I just went over and read it! Loved it! LOL
LOVED your spaces, Dawn – I left a comment over there
Dawn, your desk is lovely. It looks exactly like what it seems to be – the heart of the home. Love your personal reading chair and space. Very comfy!
Those Longaberger baskets come in handy!
I’m stumped on the black rectangle…diplomas aren’t black, right?
Very cool! I am going to have to check it out!
I think the black rectangle is a digital picture frame. Great fun to see your space!
Thanks so much for participating, Dawn. You’re the perfect guest!
Don’t feel bad, Dawn–my desk looks much worse!
I loved your space and thought that it looked highly organized
Thank you so much for sharing with us! I love your quiet chair. Everyone needs one!
Kathy – come visit and see it in person (I’m sure it will be messier!)
Beth F – I can not live without my piles of paper; part of my personality.
Jeannie – this is such a fun feature that Cathy runs
Wendy – if only my back weren’t to the room when I’m at the desk …
Kay – that kitchen isn’t just the heart, it’s Grand Central Station
Denise – Those ‘home party shows’ made the rounds several years ago; I must have 7 or 8 of the baskets. And I use them.
softdrink – no, it’s a digital photo frame. I rarely have it on, though, so it often looks like just a black rectangle.
zibilee – thanks for visiting the post.
Erin – you’re absolutely right. Now I’m inspired to set up a new round of photos for it.
Cathy – and you are the perfect hostess! Talk about making a guest feel at home
Lisa – mine looked a lot worse about an hour before and after that picture was taken.
Molly – I tell my family “I have a system!”
Sandy – if only the quiet chair came with a “do not disturb” sign and a cone of silence.
I love that your desk is right next to your kitchen (heart of the home) and I’m glad you didn’t make it too neat and tidy and send me into a cleaning frenzy to bring my own up to snuff! Ha!
[...] Revealing my secrets … | She Is Too Fond Of Books … [...]
OOo, I can’t wait to check it out…
I’ve left you a comment over there.
Kathleen – I’m back up to two piles and a “puddle” of receipts. I hope my full disclosure makes you feel better
Serena – thanks for your comments! J’s cubbies are very neat/organized. Mine holds postcards I’ve received, coupons (LOFT!), and lots of little papers I can tuck in there to get off the surface of the desk. The kids’ cubbies? Who knows! Papers, rocks, secret messages …
do I spy a Loft coupon…? I hit Loft today, 40% off some items. it takes some digging through the racks, but I found a nice sweater (work attire) and tank top (non-work). =)
OMG, I never read the BOOM story. That’s hysterical! Remind me when we’re at BEA to tell you my story about when I lived in VT near the nuclear power plant and the air sirens went off. I think you’ll get a chuckle out of it.
Gorgeous scene of the blog both kitchen and comfy chair!
