Universal is one of my favorite parks. Glad it was all that it is hyped up to be.

As for another engaging read-out-loud…I like the Percy Jackson books. A little younger than Potter, but made this adult turn pages rather quickly

Thank you for your post we are discussing the book tomorrow. While I was reading, I thought it was interesting other people thought the same thing. I could tell it was written by a man, because of the raw, not flowery, descriptive self was talking.

[...] I’ve made crock-pot pulled pork a few different times, seemingly each with a slightly different variation. My most recent iteration* involved pouring a beer into the crock-pot along with some barbeque sauce, an onion … and of course the pork. The beer was the different twist for me. I have used root beer in the past, but never a lager. This is cooked on medium heat for 8 hours (or in my case 4 hours on high and 4 hours on low). Before serving remove the pork and shred, then add more barbeque sauce and some honey. I served these as wraps this time – adding a bit of homemade cole slow along with the pulled pork to each one, and serving with more cole slaw and baked beans on the side. 50 minutes? When we went a couple of years ago, we waited for almost 2 hours!! And as soon as the park gate opened, there was already a 90 minute wait for Forbidden Journey AND Olivander’s Wand Shop. Mind you, the park had only been opened for a year.

Despite the crowd, we loved it. I mean, in the best possible geek way, like my then 11 year old and I cried when we saw the sign for Hogsmead.

Thanks for all the great suggestions — we’ll have plenty of read-alouds to get us through 2013!!
And, yes, the Orlando trip was a lot of fun, and we enjoyed the “magic” of Hogwarts and Hogsmeade, etc. These park engineers are so creative!
