Susan - I'm hoping this series of posts will let us see the many ways that bookstores let their personalities shine. Perhaps you'll read about a store in an area you'll be visiting, and it will inspire you to stop in and discover something new.

I don't live any longer near independent book sellers.
But I do know of the best one's I used to frequent in New Jersey. I miss them though because I was able to meet the authors. I met Mary Higgins Clark, James Patterson was the big names. But now I am reading more literal rather than main stream and I am looking to hear or see authors in that direction. Unfortunately, we don't have that here.
The book stores in NJ that I loved are one from Ridgewood, NJ called Bookends. The other is called Bennett Books in Wycoff.
Both of them are great because of the love of reading.
They hosted book clubs, lierary events.
I live in SC, they do not care about books. There is a independent book store in Litchfield SC. But they do not have much. Most of the authors are not going to sell. They are authors I am not interested in.
